412 Food Rescue believes in a world without hunger and waste and strives to end food waste by turning surplus into sustenance, strengthening communities and protecting the planet. Our mission is to swiftly rescue fresh surplus food and deliver it where it's needed most, leveraging people-powered technology and strong community partnerships to tackle both food insecurity and climate change.

Since 2015, 412 Food Rescue has been working daily to decrease food waste and improve the health and wellbeing of our neighbors. Through surplus food rescue, we are confronting the overwhelming challenges of food access and climate change head-on, creating unity and purpose while showcasing the transformative power of collective action to tackle the most urgent issues of our time. In 2024 alone, 412 Food Rescue recovered and redistributed 4,732,530 million pounds of surplus food through 30,957 volunteer and fleet driven rescues!

412 Food Rescue addresses both food waste and hunger by redirecting surplus food from retailers, wholesalers, and other food donors directly to nonprofit partners serving people experiencing food insecurity. Powered by a unique combination of civic engagement and technology—including our custom-built Food Rescue Hero app—our model mobilizes thousands of volunteers to transport perfectly good food that would otherwise go to waste. Since our founding, we’ve diverted over 35 million pounds of food from landfills, mitigating climate impact while ensuring that fresh, nutritious food reaches individuals and families who need it most.
